didn’t ride yesterday
I didn’t ride yesterday, although I’d wanted to.
I’d planned a route, and packed my snacks, and clipped into my shoes.
But when I left my house and made my way into the street,
I felt a pang of something strange add lead into my feet.
“What is this?” I hissed and spit, “I’m ready for the road!”
But in my heart I knew that start was the furthest I would go.
I turned around and headed home, defeated and distraught.
Though when I did I realized, “This is really what I want.”
It wasn’t the day to bike the Bay, instead I needed chillin’.
Maybe today I’ll take a ride, but yesterday I didn’t.
